Cardiology professionals are facing challenging times in healthcare management with growing educational needs as the field continues to advance. The Kansas Chapter of the American College of Cardiology presents the 9th Annual Cardiovascular Symposium on Saturday, October 1, 2022. This premier educational event will provide updates in cardiovascular medicine by leading experts in their field. The presenters are leaders in the cardiology realm and will discuss real world topics. Attendees will include cardiologists, primary care physicians, fellows in training, nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants from surrounding areas.

Objectives
Electrophysiology:

  • Evaluate and understand the role of cardiac wearables in the management of atrial fibrillation.
  • Describe the role of cardiac resynchronization therapy in management of atrial fibrillation.
  • Discuss the potential outcomes of ablation in patients with myocarditis.
  • Evaluate and understand interesting EKGs.

General Cardiology:

  • Recognize the intervention options for clinician and patient well-being.
  • Discuss effective management of lipids in patients with cardiovascular disease.
  • Discuss effective management of complex PCI.
  • Discuss effective management of aortic disease.
  • Recognize the options for complex transitions of care in a rural setting.

Heart Failure:

  • Discuss new heart failure treatment options.
  • Discuss effective management of cardiogenic shock.
  • Recognize the options for chest pain evaluation in the emergency room.

FIT Jeopardy:

  • Recognize the appropriate cardiovascular disease states and interventions.

Continuing Education
All attendees are required to sign rosters at the beginning of each day. A certificate of completion will be provided to participants based on completion of the program evaluation, documentation of actual attendance time, and payment in full.

Physicians: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the essential areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of the University of Kansas Medical Center Office of Continuing Medical Education and Kansas Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. The University of Kansas Medical Center Office of Continuing Medical Education is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

APRN/RN: The University of Kansas Medical Center Area Health Education Center East is approved as a provider of CNE by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. Nursing attendance requirement: The conference is in 5 sections: Keynote, Electrophysiology Session, General Cardiology Session, Heart Failure Session, and Fellows In Training Jeopardy Session. All presentations within an individual section must be attended in their entirety to claim credit for the section. Credit will be awarded based upon documented attendance.
